How to spot a stroke

Being aware of stroke symptoms and seeking prompt medical care can be the difference between life and death, full recovery, and long-term disability.

If you notice the following symptoms, BE FAST in seeking immediate medical attention:

Balance: Is the person suddenly having trouble with balance or coordination?

Eyes: Is the person experiencing sudden blurry or double vision in one or both eyes?

Face drooping: Are one or both sides of the face drooping or feel numb while smiling?

Arm weakness: Does one arm feel weak or numb when the person raises both arms?

Speech difficulty: Does the person have slurred speech, or is it hard to understand what they are saying? Can he or she repeat simple phrases?

Time to call the medics: Time is the most important factor. Call emergency services for immediate medical attention if any of the above symptoms are observed.
