8 Foods should diabetic patients avoid it
  1. Honey: most people think that honey can be used as a therapeutic measure for diabetes. In fact, it's very common misconception as studies showed that pure honey contains glucose (about 50% of its content) which increases blood glucose to very high levels.
  2. Full-fat dairy products: consumption of full-fat dairy products has indirect role in increasing blood glucose level. So it's recommended to replace it with skimmed dairy products.
  3. Dried fruits: dried fruits are a rich source for sugars and carbohydrates, which increases blood glucose level. It's recommended to replace dried fruit with fresh fruits.
  4. Canned and processed foods: these foods increase blood cholesterol level, which leads to disturbed level of insulin. So it's recommended to eat fresh foods and avoid any canned or processed foods.
  5. Pastry made from white flour: white flour is rich in carbohydrates, so white flour should be replaced with wheat bran or oats.
  6. Caffeine-containing beverages such as; tea, coffee and energy drinks: it's recommended to replace them with ginseng tea or warm skimmed milk.
  7. French fries: it's rich in carbohydrates and causes rise of blood glucose level.
  8. Fruits with high sugar content such as bananas, figs and grapes: it should be replaced with fruits that reduce blood sugar such as; apples, pears and avocado.
