6 Health tips for eating meat in Eid Al-Adha

Eating meat is a traditional religious habit in Eid Al-Adha; so we will highlight some important health tips to enjoy eating meat in Eid Al-Adha without any health problems.

  1. Removal as much fat as possible before cooking the meat.
  2. Poached meat is healthier than fried meat, the combination of fats and proteins in the same meal makes it difficult to digest and causes many GIT symptoms (maldigestion, heart burn, nausea… etc.).
  3. Adding vegetables alongside with the meat (such as; potatoes, carrots, peas, broccoli… etc.) plays an important role in healthy digestion and absorption of fat.
  4. It's preferred to choose parts (such as neck and thigh regions of the animal) that contain small amount of fat compared to other pieces.
  5. Grilled meat is a healthy preparation method, but you should minimize the size of the meat pieces to limit the time of heat exposure, also any visible fats should be removed to avoid their falling on the coal and prevent formation of harmful substances; so, it's recommended spicing the meat by adding vinegar and lemon before roasting to reduce the formation of these harmful substances.
  6. No one can deny that meat is delicious food and rich in many important nutrients that the body needs. But on the other side, avoid overconsumption of meat to avoid many related health issues (GIT upset, gout, cardiovascular diseases, increased cholesterol levels… etc.). The average consumption of meat shouldn't exceed 75-100 gm daily.
