5 Tips to avoid fatigue during the day in Ramadan
Dehydration is the main causative factor for fatigue during the day of Ramadan; so, it's advised to drink plenty of fluids in the period between Iftar and Suhoor. Also, eating fresh vegetable and fruits rich in fibers is very helpful; this because fibers absorb water and store it inside for utilization later. On the other side, it's recommended to avoid soft beverages and caffeine as much as possible, as it has a diuretic effect and expel water outside the body.
- Dietitians recommend eating complex carbohydrates such as brown rice, corn and boiled potatoes; their absorption is relatively slow, so it provides our body with the required energy for long hours during the day in Ramadan and protects us from fatigue.
- Sweets and sugar should be avoided during Suhoor; as it causes rapid marked elevation of blood glucose level, then sudden drop of blood glucose level within few hours, which leads to feeling of hunger and fatigue.
- It's advised to avoid massive physical or mental effort during the day in Ramadan as much as possible; it can be postponed until after Iftar, if possible.
- You should have 1-2 hours of sleep during the day in Ramadan to restore your energy as well as promote your physical and mental abilities.
